May 6th, 2011 - Ijamsville, Maryland PB Dye Golf Club
Another year, another successful tournament. This year the field expanded to 44 players from 24 the two years prior. We had another great day on the course. The morning "practice" round saw some excellent weather...75 and sunny the entire round! The afternoon "tourney" round was excellent as well...until about 16 1/2 holes into the tournament when mother nature gave it to us. After an hour delay, we were finally able to finish out the round.
Leading by a stroke going into the rain delay at 7-under par, the Dave Foelsch, Josh Kovolenko, and Eric Murphy trio couldn't hold down the lead as they got their only bogey of the round on their final hole to finish the round at 6-under par.
The "Freddie Mac" group of David Woodard, Chris Mustin, Matt Gold, and Brad Foster tied for 1st place, also with a score of 6-under par.
Finishing in 3rd place was Jason Peter, Vinny Ganeshan, Navin Ganeshan, and Frank Sprague with a score of 4-under par.
Also due a congratulatory note is Jason Carlton for winning the long drive contest and Kip Glier for winning the closest to the pin! Jason nearly made it a clean sweep when his shot on the closest to the pin 11th hole landed 3 feet from the pin...only to be outdone with Kip's shot that landed 1 foot 10 inches from the cup!
Yet again, we raised over $200 for a good cause. This year's contribution will be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation and with the Freddie Mac match, the total contribution will be over $400! Thanks to everybody who came out this year...hope to see you next year!
